(She finished up her paper and sent it to the print spool within a half an hour of the time he had left to go into his room. Since the printer was in her room, she set the loptop aside and went to oversee the print job. She couldn't help herself, standing in the hallway with her hand on the doorjamb, and let her eyes wander through the wide double doors at the end of the hall to where he lay splayed on his bed. He was like a feral animal.. all muscle and sinew.. and even when he slept she had this feeling he was primed. Hell, she knew first hand that he was primed, and had had bruises to prove it. And yet, she knew that he wasn't like that when he was awake.. not with her. Her gaze lingered on the strip of gauze at his throat, covering the worst of his burns, and unknowingly her hand lifted to the red mark at her own neck. He had almost died that day.. saving her and many of the others.. skeeter included. He was a hero.. and yet he didn't allow much talk of it. Something inside her ached, a burning feeling inside her chest.. that a man like Braden - who gave so much of himself - found so much pain in life. It didn't seem fair to her. She jumped as the printer dropped the paper out the end and growled to herself for forgetting to pull out the tray at the end of it. Picking up the paper, she set it back in the tray and - satisfied that the printer could go unwatched - moved into his room. As she hopped up the two steps that led into the master suite, she instinctively went to the window and opened it a crack to let in some fresh air. It was sort of a habit with her, she supposed. She didn't dare wake him, and not because she feared he might grab her again - which she sort of did - but because he looked peaceful and she figured he needed the sleep. No, she just walked over to the oversized leather chair near the window and curled up with a blanket, watching him quietly as he slept.)
