The Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland (CBOI), Ireland’s most acclaimed youth orchestra, will perform a free concert titled The Crossing, Celebrating Cultures and Connections at Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts on Friday, October 30 at 7 pm. No tickets are required for the concert, which is co-sponsored by Maryland Hall and the City of Annapolis, with assistance from the Maryland State Arts Council; seating is first come, first serve.

This feis will likely fill quickly... register NOW! (Remember, if you register before the feis reaches its competitor cap, then you could add competitions before the deadline without a change fee. But if you don't register before they reach the cap then you're out of luck.)

We had previously booked a room for ROI for $139 including breakfast, but the link on the feis page says $94 a night (and we surely thought we could feed our picky eating children for less than $40 and take the savings.) However, when I just called, they say the rate is $104 (which is the internet regular rate). Has anyone gotten the rooms at $94? I couldn't find a contact for the ROI webpage to see if the Marriott rep was right.

Sadly, Maureen's father-in-law passed away this weekend, and services are on Wednesday and Thursday (Sep 9 & 10). The modified class schedule (for Wed & Thurs this week only) has been sent by email to all registered students in affected classes. If you have questions, please send us an email. Registration for competitions at the Teelin Irish Dance Festival are currently open at www.efeis.com! Registration closes on April 30.

Many of the competition groups are geared toward introducing dancers to a feis. Therefore, the competitions for reel, light jig, slip jig, treble jig and hornpipe are for dancers in Beginner through Level 3 / Advanced Beginner levels.
More experienced dancers are encouraged to consider entering the Treble Reel competition and/or any of the team competitions: 2-Hand, 4-Hand, or Original Choreography.
ALL dancers and Teelin Family members who play a musical instrument are encouraged to consider entering the music competitions! These will occur in the middle of the day this year, and are a GREAT way to celebrate Irish music, and to encourage further development of traditional music.
(Remember seeing Maureen's Dad, Mike Berry, at the Spring Show? He plays pretty much any instrument that fits in a box, and is passionate about encouraging interest in Irish music! Mr. Berry would love to be able to offer budding Irish musicians some encouragement, and possibly a few pointers for their development. He and our famous local musician, Billy McComiskey, will be judging the music competitions, and the emphasis will be on ENCOURAGEMENT. Give it a try!)

We have a gently used dance practice floor available for free. It's 4 feet by 8 feet, plywood w/frame made of 2X4s. It's in excellent condition, very solid, perfect for setting up in a basement or garage. Great for practicing hard shoe drills. Saves your floors!
