There were a few of us Teelin families at the Ryan Feis today, and we had the great pleasure of watching Samantha dance her first Preliminary Championship competition! In an enormous group of dancers, Samantha took to the stage with the grace and confidence of the champion-level dancer that she is! Way to go, Samantha! Keep up the good work, and definitely keep up that beautiful smile of yours!

Congratulations to Mollie and Bridget Reese who danced at the Pittsburgh Feis last Saturday! The girls took second place with their Two-hand, Mollie placed 8th in her Preliminary Championship competition and tiny little Bridget competed in her first ever Preliminary Championships and skipped away with 6th place! To top it off, Mollie finished 1st and Bridget took 4th in the Champion level Treble Reel competition. (By the way, their mother Jill is still in shock but expected to recover in a few days).

The Teelin dancers are all doing a great job at the competitions this year!

So this is totally not Irish dance related, but it's still pretty cool.
My brother, Patrick, entered a film contest by Kohls, and made the finals (top ten)! This is a pretty big accomplishment and it would be AWESOME if you all could vote for his movie, "Flights of Fancy." Thursday (9/21), 6:30-7:30pm -- webmaster (), 01:16:45 09/21/06 Thu [4]
A Guidance Counselor will meet with the dancers during company rehearsal time (6:30-7:30) tonight (Thursday) at the Columbia studio. This will be the first time that the troupe meets for practice since learning of Amy’s death. Any dancer who would like to attend this session is welcome to come.

Parents, please allow this time tonight for Maureen and her dancers to meet with the counselor. The counselor recommends they meet as a group to support each other and begin the healing process. Dancers, please bring a sweatshirt, because the studio will feel chilly while sitting and talking.

Classes before and after this meeting will be held as scheduled.

The first Emerald Isle Club Ceili for this year will be held next Saturday in Towson. Anyone interested in getting a group of Teelin friends together to go???

Held monthly at the American Legion Post Hall #22, 125 York Road, Towson, from 7:00 pm until 11:00 pm.
Live Irish music presented by J. Patrick’s All-Stars, led by Peter Fitzgerald. The dance lesson this month will be the High-Cauled Cap, taught by Marilyn Moore during the second break.
Admission includes beer, soda, chips/pretzels and set-ups. EIC members: please bring desserts or snacks to share. Admission: $9/members, $13 non-members, $6 senior members and children; $25/family (EIC members plus their children under 18).

As you may have seen on the Teelin home page, there is a new section of our website for members of the Teelin Irish Dance Company. This is a password-protected section, for much the same reasons that the Step Notation Site is password-protected. There certainly isn't any "secret" information hidden in that section! It is simply information that should be kept within Teelin, not open to general internet access. Please email the webmaster if you have any questions about this.

There is also a new Message Board (a link has been added above). Please use that message board for any information specifically related to Teelin Irish Dance Company performances, costumes, events, etc. Please use this School Message Board for anything related to all of the Teelin School of Irish Dance.

Congratulations to all 6 of our awesome Teelin Cloggers!! They took first place in both of their team dances yesterday! Kelly and Megan also took 1st place on their duet and Megan and Amanda took first in their short duet. The day was fun and hot, but worth it! Thank you to all the parents who support your daughters! Culkin Feis Registration to Open on Tuesday – September 5! Don’t wait to register because it will fill up fast! (Probably less than a week). -- Moderator, 22:02:17 08/31/06 Thu [8]
Feis Culkin is probably one of the best run Feiseanna in this area and will fill up very fast!

It’s the “sister Feis” of the CCE Feis (Same great venue, same stages, and a lot of the same people running it and competing in it. Like the CCE Feis last memorial day, it has a “cap” (competitor limit) of 800 dancers.

The CCE Feis reached it CAP in three days. Feis Culkin will probably be pretty close to that. (There were quite a few Teelin Dancers who missed the registration cut-off last year!)

Registration for this Feis is conducted through “Efeis”. If you have never used eFeis, it will be in your best interest to set up an account this weekend (it’s free), and become familiar with the registration process.

I have a school dress for sale if anyone's interested.
I'm not entirely sure about the size, but I believe it's approx. a 'street' size Juniors 3-5 or Girls size 13-16. If you know me, it's a little big on me.
It's a few inches too long and a little too comfortably loose.
It can be let out or taken in.
This is a Teelin school dress so no alterations (like the Prendergast dress) will be needed.
I'm asking $275 or best offer.

This Friday, August 18, a group of Teelin parents, adult dancers, and instructors are meeting at Maggie Moore’s Irish Pub in Baltimore for dinner and drinks! Please join us! Maggie Moore’s is located on Eutaw Street, right across from the Hippodrome. Click here for directions, show up around 7pm, and come to the “Teelin Room” that Maureen was able to reserve! See you Friday!

By the way, sorry for the somewhat last minute notice of this event. Can’t make it Friday? We’ll miss you, but don’t worry we WILL be planning more of these pub nights! Please join us this Saturday for fun and games at the Columbia studio! We’ll have face painting, cotton candy, popcorn, dance demos, and carnival games!

New this year, we'll also be hosting a shoe swap! So, dig through your closet for your old Irish dance shoes and Clogging shoes and bring them to the studio on Saturday! Did your dancer just outgrow his/her dance shoes? Connect with other families to see about buying second-hand shoes!

Anyone interested in free dance lessons for a year?!?! If you are a current Teelin student, bring a friend to the Open House and BOTH of you will be entered in the drawing to win free lessons!

Nation's Capital Feis Results -- Holly Terres (Joyful, yet confused. . .), 10:17:04 08/08/06 Tue [4]
The Old Dominion Feis results came the following day, with the other competitors and all the scores listed. There were comments from the judges to be used as guidance for improvement.

We didn't receive this from the Nations Capital Feis, and I was wondering if anyone else had this problem. When I wrote to them, they said they would e-mail me the results IF I send an additional $4. We paid the registration fee of course.

Did anyone receive results - did we miss a step somewhere? Did anyone else send $4 in order to receive results?

Thanks for any advice or for sharing your experience with this Feis host. . .

The organizer for the Delaware Feis plans to close it TODAY /July 21st. When I called, they held a spot for my daughter, after asking a few questions, and she told me to include a note that we'd spoken so she didn't forget. If you haven't registered your dancer, please call them!

Also, it'd be great to actually know who else plans to go there! Right now, we only know of one other Teelin dancer. LOVE having the new board:)

Teelin’s Open house will be held on Saturday, August 12, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Columbia Studio. If your dancer brings a friend, both will be entered in a drawing to receive a free dance class for a year!

Everyone that’s anyone will be there and all three troupes of the Teelin Irish Dance Company will be performing.

If you would like to volunteer to help out with the open house, contact Kathy E. by clicking on "I want to Volunteer" above!
