In reply to: so happy for you! 's message, "Huge congratulations to Megan B for winning FIRST PLACE in U15 Prelim at the Ryan Feis today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" on 17:44:53 10/13/07 Sat

Of course it was an exciting moment, and even more so since Megan jumped right to the top from where we've been placing all season. I think that Megan now realizes that "practicing perfection" has really made a difference.

But what I really wanted to bring up, for the parents, concerns the perpetual trophy that Megan won.

Over the years I've wondered about this. Do the girls keep the trophy all year, or do you get your picture taken with it and then have to hand it back?

Well, obviously, by now we all know that you get to keep the trophy for the whole year. But you don't have to, it's really up to you.

After all the pictures, and hugs, and tears, find the person who's running the presentation. That person has a simple contract, stating that when you sign the contract, and you take the trophy, you're responsible for it's safekeeping until resturned to the school. The contract also states that the school will contact us next year to arrange for the trophy's return. We can either mail it back, or we can arrange for a meeting.

For us, since Megan attends the school's three feis's annually, we're going to arrange to return during the first feis that she'll go to.

As for the engraved plate, the option is entirely yours. If you don't want to pay for it, just leave it blank and the owners will have the plate engraved after we return the trophy next year, at no cost to us.

So what happens if it gets broken, or lost? Until we return the trophy to the school, we're totally responsible.

So what happens next year after we return the trophy, doesn't Megan get a trophy to keep? Yes, during the presentation, Megan received a 1st Place trophy for her competition. It's one of those conclaved glass/crystal trophies that seems to be popular at the moment.

Good luck to you all!
