Subject: Brazil Elections - Oct 29 runoff


Dear Editor

I really feel sorry when I read about corruption in Brazil. It is even worse when it makes headlines in foreign relevant newspapers. But what really gets me down is how people can still believe that some politicians do not take part in dishonest practices when evidence points clearly towards their involvement in scandals. Isn’t it precisely that what the present government is trying to do at the moment? Though the polls show a drop in the government’s prestige and elections move towards a runoff, Lula still stands a big chance to be reelected, such was his maneuver to get exempted from the scandals that have been contaminating the Worker’s Party such as the Health Ministry scandal of the dossier found with two of the Party’s members. I hope that voters can bear such cases in mind on Oct 29 runoff in order to raise their awareness regarding the best candidate to vote for.
