 Perks aside, the leadership positions here are -in my opinion- actually worth having whether you give a damn about the people or not. It's ALL basic governance- the people don't come to you for every little thing, nor do they expect you to be flawless. All you have to do is keep the peace, deal with actual important issues, and keep in touch with the other houses.
