and you can bet your sweet ass that nascar now owns the tire/wheel assembly, than the appeal won't matter.... BUT
have you guys ever watched the teams get their air? I have. Stood there for over an hour and watched. in fact, I got them to give me a Jeff Burton tire while I was watching.

The teams arrive at the track with one set of tires already on the car. Years past, they could bring tires they'd purchased at other races but no more. They arrive with the tires that are on the car, just so they can move the car from the trailer into their garage stall. The team then unloads dozens of wheels. Each wheel carries the team logo and car number. In the case of Petty, their rims had 43 and 45 on them because they shared rims. The 24 and 48 teams, did not. They have 24 on Gordons and 48 on Johnsons and they don't share rims unless one gets knocked out of the race and the other needs tires.
So the team has these huge hand carts they stack with rims and they take them to the Goodyear trailer. They tell Goodyear how many tires they want to buy and Goodyear reps mount them. When finished the team come sback and gets their mounted tires.

As I see it:

1: Goodyear reps are idiots for not seeing the bleeder valve.
2: Goodyear reps are too busy to notice there was something wrong with the rims.
3: Goodyear reps saw the valves and didn't give a shit.
4: The team took the tires off the legal rims and mounted them on other rims afterwards.
If the reps are idiots, they need to be replaced
If the reps are too busy, nascar inspectors need to supervise them (they don't currently)
If the reps say them and didn't give a shit, they need to be fired.
If the team re-mounted the tires, they should never race in Cup again.

The other option is that someone in that Goodyear trailer was paid to look the other way, in which case Hoosier or Firestone may be coming back to nascar afterall.
