Correct me if I'm wrong, but as I recall, you were disgusted with the sport. You call it NASCRAP and you hate the France family and Mike Helton.

While I am not really Brian France's biggest fan, I do believe the family has done a lot of good for the sport. I think Mike Helton and his group has made ths port safer. No question, they have certainly done some crap that I don't like or approve of, but overall, I think the sport is in pretty decent hands.
I don't hate nascar. I have never once called it nascrap. My problem is, ever since Kyle Petty was forced out by his own father, I have lost interest. I sincerely hope that when Danica Patrick moves to Cup thatmy interest will once again pick up.

They knew right after the last race at Richmond that NASCAR intended to impiund their new hampshire car and take it to the R&D center. Why in the hell would anyone do ANYTHING that even remotely resembles cheating, knowing full well that even if they finished dead last, their car was going to be torn down to the bare chassis? No one would do that. So wht the hell would they take that car to New Hampshire? Only an idiot would do that.... or someone out to get Childress or one of his teams.....

He violated his own contract. You dont owe him anything, no images...not even the time of day. The models however are another story. :/

a friend of the people I'm staying with heard about it and suggested a shoot with the heavy construction equipment he works with. He said he talked it over with his boss and we could do it Sunday afternoon. Took some work to get it done on short notice but I got two models... and promised to give each of them a bikini that I had in my wardrobe collection. its all set for tomorrow.
Today I actually met the guy who wants this for the first time. He said, "The models cannot be seen from the road but there is a lot of equipment so that isn't a problem." Well, ok. "The models have to wear jeans or slacks." What? "The models have to wear jeans or slacks." Well, I suppose jeans with bikini tops might look good. "No, they have to wear shirts." Um, it's pretty hard to shoot bikini models wearing jeans and shirts. "I told my boss I was bringing some friends in to take some photos. I can't have women in bikinis if he shows up.

So he gets pictures of girls on the equipment.
The models and I get NOTHING for our portfolios, and I have to give the models the bikinis I promised them. So this costs me my time and those bikinis and I get nothing out of it for my portfolio, and we apparently don't have permission to do this. I don't think this is going to happen so I get a bad name by cancelling the models on short notice.

Dollie passed away at about 3am. They told her a day or two earlier that if she passed away during the night that she did not have to call anyone until morning if she didn't want too. Ann, Tiffany and Dillon slept there last night so mom decided not to call anyone until the kids left for school in the morning. Dillon, he's 6, really loved Aunt Dollie so just when he was about to go out to the bus, he asked if he could go in and say goodbye to her. Mom had checked her and Dollie's eyes were closed and she just looked like she was sleeping so mom said he could go in but to be very quiet so he wouldn't wake her. Dillon went in alone and when he came out he said, "I just kissed her hand and told her I love her. She didn't wake up." They told the kids she passed away while they were at school, so Dillon will always think he got to say goodbye to her. There's nothing wrong with that.

I needed a bit of a break so I am not home now. I am staying with some friends in Ontario for a bit.
Earl did zero damage to my place. In fact, I don't know anyone who did suffer any damage. Its a nice change from when Juan hit us a few years ago.
The day before I left, we couldn't get a hold of mom'solder sister, Dollie. She's 84. I have a key to her apartment so I went in to see what was wrong. My key wouldn't open the door. She used a dead bolt. I pounded on the door and banged on every window with no response. So i called 9-11. The first cop did everything I'd just done and then he said, "I can open the door, but you need to tell me too." I said, "Open the door." We found her sitting in her lazyboy right next to a window we'd been banging on. The blinds were all closed so we couldn't see her. She was awake and alert but not really 'right.' They took her to the hospital where she stayed for 3 days. Then they sent her home to my house so my mother could look after her until she died. They found she was full of cancer. She died last night.
That sucks but my sister is home with mom, and she has three other sisters who are there to help so I am not going home early.
Anyway I am not sure how long I am staying but it'll be at least two weeks. I just start feeling better and I get another letter or phone call from my idiot sister. The other day I got an email from my oldest sister who said Ann told her she was going to call and tellme to come home immediatelky because mom didn't eat her breakfast. Jean said, "If you do that, Rick will go home and kill you. This kind of stuff is the reason Rick had to get away." This morning Ann called to say Dollie passed away and then she said, "When are you coming home?" I said, "I told mom the only reason I'll come home early is for a funeral and Dollie doesn't want a funeral so I am not coming home early."
so thats it. I need to take a vacation from my vacation now.

that should *I* ever need a jury, I would want someone like me sitting and deciding my fate. Thats why I choose to go every time I'm called. But as soon as a lawyer finds out you have ANYTHING to do with the possibility of even remotely handling police evidence they CANT use you.

For the past 35 years I've processed and printed film of autopsies, crime scenes, accidents, YOU NAME IT. I even have stated (under oath) that I could put aside any prejudice or preconceived notions and judge fairly..."Your honor we'd like to excuse juror # 15,20,5"...whatever number I happen to be. I get thanked and shoved out the door.

I think I've EARNED my pass from this process because now it's just a waste of my time and damit, I just dont feel well enough to go.

One time I was *even almost* tampered with, LOL. A defendants mother tried talking to me in the hallway. I of course, didnt know she was the guys mom but she was talking about the case. I had my jurors badge on. She broke the law trying to talk to me. I didnt even realize it till after I went home and saw her on the local news channel that night being interviewed. I was bumped from that trial too.

Would tell me to do jury duty just once, like maybe after I retire, IF I can ever retire.

My realistic side tells me to say to the interviewers that I have read about the case, and think the bum should do life in prison, even for a misdemeanor. That should get me home quick.

If I were a jurist on the OJ case, he would have gone right to prison after the trial because I would have spent 10 years sequestered convincing OJ's other "peers" that he commited those murders, and Judge Ito could kiss my ass.

I know someone. He used every excuse he could think of to get out of it. Financial hardship, kids, sick mother... name it. They wouldn't let him off the hook. So his first day, he said, "I hope we get to burn a fucking Indian." There's the door Sir. Someone told me that pulling that today can get a person into some legal trouble now. I would never do anything that would get me tossed out of jury duty. I want to sit on one so bad. Just once before I die.

Next time, throw out "that" letter and see what happens. You may not get on the jury, but you can be the defendant instead. At least you'll finally be "in court"

It's a ridiculous waste of taxpayer money to keep you coming in, and keep on sending you home, for 35 years. Add it up, divide it into the number of people who live in your jurisdiction, and send the court a bill to re-imburse JT for the money she's wasted!

pretty boring. The selection process I mean. Each lawyer defense and pros. interviews each prospective juror. Asks each one, the same set of questions. So sitting through 50 prospects gets rather tedious.

I've made it to the interview maybe 3 times in 35 years. When they get to the question, do I work for any police agencies? when I describe my job, one or the other lawyer excuses me from the process. THAT fulfils my service until the next year. Even that I now declare I'm retired, they STILL dont want me.
I believe I deserve a pass on this whole process. I've tried to serve but every time I get there I'm told to go home. We dont want you. Now it's just a big pain in the ass every time I get "THAT" envelope in the mail.

I make sure the government knows who I am.... and I pray for jury duty and I have never been called once. Pretty much everyone in the family has. Last summer my sister even got special status permission to not sit on the jury.. her excuse was she had absolutely no one to look after her kids, even though mom looks after them every day. I was livid.
I want jury duty. It is one of those things people in the free world take for granted and I think its the most important thing anyone can do.

No one in Nascar is blaming the COT, the re-surfacing of the track, or the fact that Bristol, in lieu of the economy, by their own admission, hasn't lowered prices to the extant that some other events have.

Roger Penske demands respect, and I think makes drivers mature faster. If Kyle Busch raced for Penske, Kyle's career as an asshole might end. Up to, and if that happens, well, it is what it is. Regarding Kurt, I don't think he was regarded as an asshole, except for Jimmy Spencer, who wasn't much to point fingers. Roush did what he felt he needed to do for the organization, and Roger had the wherewithal to sign Kurt. Face it, both Kyle and Kurt are great drivers. And brothers who not only compete against each other, but 40 others each week. Right now, give the edge to Kurt. He's a Champion, a feat that his younger imature asshole brother hasn't been able to pull off, no matter how many wins he has.

there was a time when we all hated Kurt Busch. When he had the run-in with the cop and ended up getting fired by Roush...fired while he was the reigning champion, pretty much everyone wanted him gone. And then he went to work for Roger Penske.
Every single person who works for Penske Racing, has a meeting with him, during which Penske warns them, "You will never embarass me." I don't know if that meeting is what did it (I think it was), but Kurt Busch grew up at that time. It was like he changed over night.
Right now if I had to choose a favorite driver I would be hard pressed to choose between Kevin Harvick and Kurt Busch. Dodge may tip the scale in Busch's favor.
My point is, hardly anyone actually hates Kurt Busch anymore. I haven't heard anyone saying, "That God damn Kurt Busch won again." or "Anybody but KB."

So my question then is, does anyone think we will be saying the same things about Kyle Busch in five years?

My view is no. Not unless he becomes Kurt's team mate and even then I'm not sure Kyle Busch can handle the oversight.

I think Kyle Busch is an asshole. I think he has always been an asshole and I suspect he will always be an asshole... so in reality, it's kind of stupid for us to even wish he will change.

absolutely worth every minute of the 20 years I waited for everyone to do this movie together. Only one thing could have made it better..... Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenagger had very tiny parts and they were uncredited... their names were not even in the credits. Yesterday Stallone was on Fox News and he said there will be a sequel. By then, Arnold will be out of office so maybe he and Willis will have bigger parts.
I never really liked Jet Li but he was absolutely FANTASTIC in this movie. I have always liked Jason Statham and this movie is easily his best. He was funny, heroic, everything.
Best line in the movie:
"He wants to be president."
I absolutely loved this movie. Its not in the Black Hawk Down category, but its as good as any pure action movie I've ever seen.
Go see it.

This may look a little weird to you guys. I did this in High Dynamic Range, which means I shot three photos. One had what I considered to be perfect exposure. Then one that was slightly under exposed, so the clouds had more detail, and the third was slightly over exposed so the shadows, trees etc had more detail. Then I ran all three through a program that put all three together to give me this. I like it.

I got three I think that are good enough. This one isn't my favorite. I am still working on that one.

I had a very expensive photo shoot tonight. Two gorgeous models... the one in the boat was one of them.... two beautiful ladies in bikinis down at the lake. a gorgeous 1965 SC Cobra.... perfect cloudy skies.... awesome. AC Cobra poked a hole in the oil pan on the way in and I tore the exhaust off my car on the way out.

Those pictures better turn out.

we will shoot it in my pond just so I can control at least some of it....

2 models....
girl wearing old fashion dress will be in a row boat, holding a small gas lantern.

About 20 feet behind her, among the weeds and bullrushes on shore, will be a male model wearing a goalie mask and holding an axe.

There will be a flash set up 10 feet to the side of the man. A smaller flash will be set up ten feet in front of the woman.

The fog machine will be blowing fog across the pond in front of the woman and between the woman and the man. The woman will be starng intently into the fog, not knowing the killer lurks behind her.

I want to do this all in camera and not have any photoshop at all. The upside is its a pretty cool evening here with very little breeze so the fog ought to be at lease semi-controlable. we shall see.

two models, two seperate flashes, a fog machine, the weather, a camera and a photographer all have to work right.... at the same time..... cross your fingers.

Just saw this on Fox Report... a woman in New York... she may have been 30 years old, if that. A homeless man asked her for money and she didn't have any cash. He said, "Can I borrow your credit card?" She said she has no idea why she did it but she gave it to him. Her friends stood there telling her how stupid she was. Ten minutes later he came back and gave her the card back... with a reciept for what he bought.

CSI NY, as much as I like Gary Sinise, and as excited as I was about him getting that show, the show itself is a disappointment.

So Al... as you may know, my house was built in 1886. I have a lot of junk stored in my basement and I need to get it ready for my wood pellets this fall so I am cleaning it out. I happened to look above a rafter today and guess what I found....

Its a wooden box... weighs 5 pounds or more. Maybe 6" ling, 3 inches wide and maybe 4 inches high. There are 3 terminals on one end and some other do-dads on the other end.
any guesses? Well... after some dusting, I found KW IGNITION, Cleveland, OHIO on a metal plate on one end. So I did some googling. It is an ignition coil for a Model T Ford, made between 1913 and 1915.
Probably not worth anything, but its pretty cool.

Mom gave me an electric trimmer a few years ago and I just take it in the bathroom and have at it. our idea is to show the producers that we will respect the integrity of the game and still have a lot of fun. Our fingers and toes are crossed. we shall see. we each had to fill out a 6 page application. There were only two health questions... do you have asthma and have you ever had a heart attack. So I got away with that one. I think if they actually watch the dvd, they will like us. The bloopers were better than the actual show. When the dvd got shaky, it's because my cousin's little girl had to work the camera. It was actually her idea to make the blooper reel, as she called it.

George, I'm not really surprised that some of you get it on cable, because there have been at least two shows (maybe 3) filmed in California. I dvr every one of the shows. I have almost all of them. Buck and RJ and Kaleigh and Alana are my favorite episodes.

I needed to buy a dress for a photo I am planning. The shoot takes place on August 27 and the date can't be changed. I found the dress for $22 on ebay. The seller is in Michigan. I woke up this morning to an email from a friend of mine. A woman she works with has a daughter who just broke up with her husband. She has 3 dogs and can't afford them so if she didn't find a home, by monday, for her 1 year old lab mix, she was putting him down on Tuesday morning. Took me 5 minutes to save the dog's life. A friend of mine is with an animal rescue group. I called her and she said if the woman can keep the dog until Tuesday evening, she wll have a spot for the dog. I said if worse comes to worse I'll take the dog until Tuesday but I didn't want to even meet the dog because I know damn well I'd end up keeping him. So I called the woman and said we have a place for the dog but we can't take it until Tuesday evening. She agreed. So we save the dog and I don't have to worry about falling in love with him myself.

Who drive their million dollar cars to car shows, and a lot of 68 year old guys who captain their million dollar yachts to harbor, but I agree that good old Jack should give the stick to someone else on his planes, most of them experimental anyway, it'll be a lot safer. C,mon a retired Marine nearby to dive in to the water 8 years ago in Alabama to pull him to safety, now this, the plane breaking in half on landing, and walking away .............Sorry Jack nobody is THAT lucky.

from a spectator's standpoint, Indy was the worst. I saw the entire race from the press room so I had windows facing the front and backstretch, but it was incredibly tough to see much on the backstretch because the place is so damn big, and the front stretch was so narrow I might have seen a hundred yards or so. I can't imagine what Bill was seeing down at track level.

BUT of all the races I've covered, none treated me as well as Indy did. I still have my hard card, with my photo on it, on my office wall. That is one place I will never forget. and Bill & I touched the bricks.

Is one of a handful of races I wont miss

Daytona 500
Both Michigan races
Both Talladega races
Formerly both Bristol races (not the same anymore)

So much history at Indy, racing nearly 50 years before Daytona and Nascar came along. I know it's not that easy to see as a spectator at the track, but it's quite a spectacle on TV. I've never been to a race at Indy, but I DID do 2 laps in a 57 Mercury Turnpike Cruiser back in 1978, and it was a blast!!

A few months ago two paramedics were on their lunch break in a restaurant. While they were eating, a pregnant waitress went into a seizure. Staff and customers begged the paramedics for help and the male emt said, "Call 9-11. We're on our lunch break."
The woman died. The baby was delivered but died two days later.

Yesterday, the paramedic who said, "Call 9-11. We're on our lunch break," was killed by a stray bullet.

you guys have all been dealing with ebay for along time... here's an issue that I've never heard of and ebay makes it almost impossible to contact them...

About 3 weeks ago I used the buy it now to buy a 128gig flash drive from a seller in China. It was only $8 or so, so it's no great loss. So I got an invoice and paid by paypal. The day after that I got anotice from the seller saying my item had shipped and that it could take 3 to 4 weeks for delivery. Good enough.
Last week I got anotice from ebay saying they had removed that auction from their database and that I could apply to PayPal to get my money back. I used the item # to check and they had indeed deleted it. So I tried to get my money back and to do that, ebay wants all of my correspondence with the seller and they want to contact the seller to find out what the problem is.

As far as I can tell, ebay is the problem. Maybe the seller didn't ship it, but ebay couldn't have known that because I never told them I haven't recieved it yet. I can't get anything out of ebay at all.

you ever hear of such a thing happening?

A few years ago at Darlington Jimmie Johnson's car was next to Kyle Petty's in the garage. Kyle was standing next to his car talking to a guy with white hair. When the man left one of Johnson's crewmembers asked Kyle 'who was the old man?'

David Pearson. More wins at darlington than anyone alive and they didn't even know who he was.

I know not many of you guys are hockey fans, but at least the kids coming into the NHL, even the ones from other countries, grow up learning everything they can about the sport. They come in respecting the guys who went before and they respect the traditions and don't try to change them. A shame the kids coming into nascar can't do the same.

JPM says Martin needs driving lessons: #5-Mark Martin needs driving lessons before the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series reaches Indianapolis Motor Speedway in two weeks, according to #42-Juan Pablo Montoya. The two made contact on the final lap of Saturday night's LifeLock.com 400 at Chicagoland Speedway battling for 15th place, and it led a brief, heated conversation in the garage area. "He didn't like the way I passed him there on the last lap, (called it) borderline stupid driving and suggested I take some smart driving lessons from him," Martin said while walking briskly from his #5 hauler to the motorhome lot. Before that, Martin had parked his #5 car on the opposite side of the garage from his hauler near Montoya, apparently to confront the Earnhardt-Ganassi Racing driver. "I ain't gonna take no s**t," Martin said. The coveted 15th spot was credited to Martin, with Montoya bringing his No. 42 home in 16th.
Montoya's comments to the media were even more brief as he followed just seconds behind Martin, both leaving the dark garage area bustling with crew members who prepared and loaded the hot racecars and other equipment into the haulers. "I gave him room out of [turn] four and we got into [turn] one and he nearly wrecked me, (nearly) wrecked us both," Montoya said before being driven away on a golf cart. Before Martin -- last year's winner at Chicagoland -- was whisked away to his motorhome, he was asked if he was going to heed Montoya's advice despite being one of the more respected wheelmen in the NASCAR garage.
