And do it as cheaply as possible. But the owners have to convince a sponsor(s) to shell out millions of dollars to pay for it all. In return sponsors, and track owners want a full house every race. If I'm Lowes or Dupont, I want 160,000 fans seeing my advertising, not 75,000. When attendance suffers, sponsors can justify lower budgets, or get out completely. Throw TV into the mix, and everything gets screwed up. The fans suffer, ala Bristol. You'd THINK that attendance at the track would mean something, but I'm thinking that TV ratings carry more weight these days. No wonder Nascar never announces race attendance figure. Watch in the near future for camera angles that won't include the grandstands, I'll bet it's coming soon.
