she's a fan so she probably thinks he had a right to do that.
You know, back when I first started watching nascar, in the 70s and even before that, when a driver or team wanted to get back at someone, they did it very quietly... they never told anyone, they just 'made a mistake' on the track and that that that. Nothing was said publicly. Nothing got reported on the news, it was just taken care of.
The one year at Bristol or Richmond, Robbie Gordon spun out MIke Skinner and he said over his radio, "I thought we needed a caution, so I got us one." After that incident, Richard Childress took Gordon out behind the haulers and had a chat with him. No one knows what was said, but Gordon was a different driver when he came back out.
One year Dale Earnhardt Jr had a shitty car so he spun himself out. Not quite the same thing but he did stop the race illegally and he got a penalty for it.
My point is, things have changed. Thye changed for the worst right around the time Jeff Gordon climbed out of hiscar and slammed Matt kenseth in the chest at Bristol. Once that was on tv, it was like no holds barred. These isiots can do whatever they want on tv with very little repurcussions.
If I started a team tomorrow, and I don't care if my drivers are Kirk Shelmerdine and Andy belmont or Junior and Johnson. They'd get exactly the same rules. I'll follow Roger Penske for the first one:
Gentlemen, I will give you championship-caliber cars and engines every single weekend. In exchange for that, you follow two simple rules:
1: You will never ever Embarass me. You race hard and clean and I will support you till your dying day. But you embarass me just this much, and you are gone. Out. No appeals. Your contract will be paid up until the time of your firing and you'll get not one cent more. Is that clear? No? Really? No? Ok, don't sing the contract. I'll find someone who will.
2: You wreck anyone intentionally, and I will be the sole judge of what is intentional, if you wreck anyone intentionally, you will pay for your own car and that of the car you wreck, out of your salary. Is that understood? Good. You better hope shit like that doesn't happen at Talladega because that will really cost you. Understood?
