I have a problem... a serious one.

My computer has developed an issue and no one seems to know whats causing it or how to fix it. I cannot use any search engine. Bing, Google... nothing. Its not just with Internet Explorer. I downloaded and installed firefox and tried using Bing from there with the same problem. And here's the problem:

I go to google.com or google.ca or anything else and do a search. Let's say I search for blueberry pie recipes. I hit enter and I get the normal list of links to blueberry pie recipes. But when I click on any of them, one of two things happens... either I get a 404 error or the page doesn't move at all. I can click on the link till I'm blue in the face and nothing happens. Occassionally, if I go to google as soon as I re-boot the computer, it will work but within 30 seconds or a minute and its the same thing.

I have run microsoft security essentials and superantispyware over and over and over. I get their updates three times a day and run them again. They are finding no viruses. occassionally they find trojans or something and move them to the vault or quarantine but nothing else.

Any ideas?

I belong to a group of photographers and models called model mayhem. This is odd. I googled that and got the normal list. The first three on the list were all for pages within model mayhem and those links worked. But the fourth link was for 'model boat mayhem' and when I clicked on that I got the 404 error message.

Any ideas? Don't say its expensive because I have no money.
