Johnson got 58 points on Sunday. He's 132 back of the leader.
Keep in mind that I like Jimmie Johnson. Can't stand his crew cheif, but I like Johnson...

so he pulled out early. Got a grand total of 58 points, but he was only about 3 laps behind Newman. Thats 3 points if he could have come out and done four more laps. Why didn't he?
I'll play Devil's Advocate here... I don't think Hendrick would risk cheating, although I have no doubt what so ever that Knaus would if he thought he could get away with it.

So let's suppose for a second they did cheat. Is Johnson/Knaus really good enough, or arrogant enough, to say, "We can write off the Daytona 500 because we know we will make those points back later?" Johnson has been know to have some bad luck.. wrecks mostly, but bad luck. But by ducking out and going home early gives them one benefit... their car doesn't get torn down and inspected after the race because it's already off the property.

I'm just sayin.
