Subject: I know this forum cannot control what H/M people are charging but I have used everyone from the smaller time H/M people to the Big time ones and I think no one is worth 300+. Those people are taking on too many kids and have favorites. One H/M person I use charges 150.00-175.00 and I get my DD hairstyle changed for every event if i want and she does a great job! Would Like to see a control on this as these people are Raping moms for money.

Boycott the ones who overcharge. My H/M lady charges $100 for nationals and that covers ALL events and rolling. -- Anonymous, 15:38:45 11/06/07 Tue [1]

I agree. But most pms think "you get what u pay for for" and they think if you pay $350 then you'll look better. I've seen alot of $350 do's not redone for next events. why is this. the h/m that does all different looks for $150 should receive a standing ovation! -- Anonymous, 15:55:06 11/06/07 Tue [1]

We want to put some things on our website to help the moms with that. Like promoting some that do a pretty good job for the price. Maybe some tips for those wanting to do it themselves. We have a lot of plans that just takes some time to do. We are so new that its going to take time to get everything we want together. This board is strickly to help the moms and the pageants that are up for some changes. -- Anonymous, 16:13:01 11/06/07 Tue [1]

I am sorry if I offended you. I should have used a better term. My point is still the same that H?M is out of hand, these people are not doing people in Hollywood or New York they are kids. Seems to me many vendors think if you attach the word pageant in any content of a sentence it costs more than you can get from anywhere else. JMHO -- Anonymous, 20:14:58 11/08/07 Thu [1]

What happened to the days when a mom could do her dd hair and makeup, make her a beautiful dress, and pay for MODELING lessons c/i -- Anonymous, 10:13:38 11/10/07 Sat [1]
The days when you did not have to dance to be the best model, and your win was not determined by how old your photo made you look or how many stones mom paid to have glued on your dress. If you want to go back to fair pageants this needs to be addressed. A mom should not have to pay a photographer $500 to have a picture of a 3 year old that looks like shes 15. A beautiful girl who can model should be able to wear a beautiful dress and win, not a dress full of stones that overshadow her. Her teeth should be her teeth. Missing teeth, braces, it doesn't matter. We should go back to the days when a child can win because she is beautiful, not because her mom has enough money to make her look beautiful, or in my opinion, FAKE!

Your right, the glitz has went too far and I like the glitz pageants. I love a pretty pageant dress, but I think they are beautiful without all the stones. The stones dont make your child any prettier and the dresses would certainly look more delicate on a child. Same with the hair and makeup. The whole problem is some of the contestants cant win without being totally covered up with the heavy makeup, therefore those moms will fight for it. I dont think they should get rid of all the makeup, but just enhance the childs natural beauty. Something the mom can do without going overboard with it. Really its not beauty now. Its the best painted mask. You cant tell who is beautiful and who isnt. Close up appraisial is a must for judging beauty. -- Anonymous, 07:14:38 11/11/07 Sun [1]

i agree with the lady who says there is to much glitz. sometimes the dress overpowers the child and you don't see the real beauty, the child. it seems these days its not how pretty the child is, its who has the most jewels on their dress. Back years ago if you had fake hair or teeth you would not be allowed to compete. It's not longer a beauty pageant but a pageant of fakeness. I too think that all of this grands and minis take away from the real value of a pageant but let's face it the more they add the more money the person putting on the pageant makes. I really hope you can make a difference but for years it has always been the one that spends the most in a pageant system is the one who wins until someone else comes along and starts spending more.
