I think there is some cultural difference here that I find very interesting to point out... I seriously do not get what the big deal is about Amanda not wanting to go on vacation with her parents. The girl is 18 years old, after all; a grown-up, for all intents and purposes, as many were quick to point out when it came to Jeremy and his taking responsibility for what he did. When I was 18, and went on vaca with my parents, I was the odd ball out in my class; generally by latest 16, teenagers here have enough of family vacations and stay behind, and parents let them. No big deal, no hard feelings. Hey, by that age, I moved halfway around the world for a year to take care of other people's kids! -- Army Wives: Celebrating the circle of friendship!
