Contestants had to come to rehearsals all week except for one who lived three hours away because it was too far, according to directors. Those who lived nearly two hours away were not exempt from this rule and had to attend all rehearsals. Applications were filled out the night before so there was no time given to perfect them. The directors also allowed two contestants to sing the same song in the pageant for the talent competition. The pageant is for Americans and Canadians, but only Americans had to find $100 in sponsors by Friday for the CMN or were told they could not compete on Saturday.

Very unfair that different contestants had different rules for CMN and rehearsals.

The pageant is a Miss Maine prelim held in CANADA!

It is called the Miss International Scholarship Pageant, and it's been held for almost 40 years now. If the winner is American, she goes to Miss Maine. If she's Canadian, she goes to Miss New Brunswick. A few years ago, new directors took over. They are very inconsistent with the rules, and things are very unfair. For example, the girl who won was exempt from all rehearsals except the dress rehearsal because she lives 3 hours away. Two other girls live almost 2 hours away, but they were required to attend all rehearsals. Also, Americans had to each raise $100 for CMN, but the Canadians in the pageant did not have to raise money for any charity. Everything was very disorganized. The applications had to be done at the dress rehearsal, with no advance notice.

The website is:

There are other International Festival pageants this weekend. Hopefully, we'll hear good things!
