Subject: My Job

Hi,
I need your help in taking a decision concerning my job or... I need to know your thoughts about it.
My contract with the firm I have been working for for the last 20 months ended last Sunday, July 13th. The end of the contract had been decided on that particular day because that will be the date at which the company ends one phase of their contract with the government and the two parties decide whether another phase will be implemented which it was.

Although it was decided that the company will still be operating in the country, the company's lawyer advised them to terminate the employees' contracts anyway and if the company would need some or all of those employees, he advised to make new, one year contracts that will be terminated at the end of the year and perhaps have another contract for another year and so on. The reason why the company is doing this is to avoid being responsible for its employees forever.. as they say. Although it sounds unethical but it is legal according to the laws and regulations.

Now, I feel very, VERY outraged because of this practice, and although the management made it clear for me that they will re-hire me again and again I still feel that this is unfair. So what I am thinkin of is to say NO, when they call me after the 15 days interval to sign a new contract (they lay employees of for 15 days to ensure that they won't be considered as permanent workers).

As much as I want to say a big NO to their faces, I need my job. This is one of very few foreign companies operating in the country, and the salaries are among the highest for all professions here. Therefore, many of my friends, colleagues and family members advised me against rebellion saying that no matter how good I am at what I'm doing, my "NO" will not have any effect on the management who will find an equally good replacement in no time(and they are right). Having said that, I still find it unfair and unacceptable to me to go when they say go and come back when they say so.. It makes me feel like a salve, and gives me a sense of insecurity and underestimation for my talents and skills.

I am almost sure I will regret it if I acted according to what I am inclined to and said NO to them having me back, as I need the salary they give to me, but I still very much wish I could do it... what do you think?
