I agree with a lot of what you say here. Personally I don't go in for crystals, levitation and all of these extraneous things - BUT I do feel that they may be the right thing for others. They may act as a sort of "life line" to God - i.e. if one is drowning, one may want to get on the ship that's right in front of them, but first they need to grab the little rope that's in the water that leads to the ship. The rope isn't the ultimate thing - but it can help get you there.

To me of course these things were talking about is more than entertainment - I am really just following my gut. You may feel that what I am doing is in opposition to a spiritual path - but to me, everything, even this - is spiritual. To me, our rational brains are tools that can be used for the spiritual path, especially if one is at a loss as to where to seek in the first place - and even if real answers go beyond what the brain can comprehend, it still can lead one there.

And I would argue that since you haven't had a god realization, how can you be sure how to get there? If the method you've been utilizing hasn't yielded any results, why be so quick to dismiss other methods?

Even the Astavakra Gita says that meditation is a waste of time and from my own study of all religions, especially Buddhism, my take is that there is no sure method.

You wrote:

"Its all just a huge wste of effort and energy that could be better spend on spiritual practice."

I think that reading about these types of things is a bona fide practice, that this method of seeking likely helps my own path in an indirect sort of way and my sharing it also indirectly helps others on the path because it might help them to think outside the box.

Certainly no one here believes little old me - but just by hearing it - a seed has been planted. If these things do come to pass, they will certainly think back on these discussions and finally begin to wonder if it's all possible that these really are the end times (and this I know for certain) and that maybe their own strongly held beliefs are not enough to grasp and explain what's going on.

My main point is to try and get others to "seek", which won't happen unless they are interested in seeking. Myself, I was always a seeker. Most others it seems couldn't care less - they have no interest.

And it is my belief (there's that word again) that these end times are really a spiritual alarm clock. They say that there are no atheists in fox holes. I think that's mostly true.

If one is not a seeker now, maybe one will be when God pulls the rug out from under one and they lose everything. IMHO, the purpose of gods like Kali, Satan, etc., is to shake us out of our complacency - to wake us up. I recently read a report that due to the ways things are right now, many people are flocking back into churches.

While that may not be the best idea - it shows that bad times force many to seek.

As for these "time monks", I really do think they're on to something, but I still don't latch on to what they're saying.
