Subject: Limiting Contestants-
Author: LC [ Edit \| View ]	Date Posted: 17:41:35 05/17/10 Mon I really think some states need to limit the amount of contestants in there pageants. I think there should be around 15 a maximum of 20. When you get so many girls at a local pageant I think all the women run together. The judges cant focus on each girl. Not to mention it makes for one VERY long drawn out pageant. Its not fair to the girls. I am not sure if they do this to make more money or what. But after watching many state pageants and knowing someone who judges them, they also say its much better when there is a smaller group of women. When you get 25 at a local pageant it drags on and the girls all seem to run together. I believe they should cap it. It looks as though many states have around 14-15 and that seems like a good number. I talked to a friend who said she watched one that was over 3 hours long... Way to long. There should be preliminary judges for states thats have alot of women entering, they can pick a top 15 to advance on to the next section. Or just close it off once they get to 15 or so contestants. ummmm Mrs. America has more than 14-15 contestants. Do you think they should cap it off as well? Maybe the first 15 state pageants should get to send their winner to nationals? That is CRAZY! That's somewhat discriminatory to exclude after a certain amount has signed up. I'd rather compete in a pageant with a director who wants to make sure that as many women compete as possible. I'm sure the director had a criteria for who got the scholarship and I'm sure it was fair. Tracy runs everything above board. Just be glad your friend got the scholarship. But what happens if one of those scholarship receivers wins? I think alot of states provide competition wardrobe and I guess a girl could always borrow clothes for rehearsals, but what about your family's plane tickets and hotel room and show tickets? The economy is tight for sure and I know alot of people are tightening their belts and cutting out all unnecessary expenses, but I wonder if some of these ladies who are entering for free realize how much it will cost them if they were to win. Some who enter preplan and save airmiles or get them donated, timeshares are donated or their family stays at a different hotel and not all the kids may come to both competitions. When I won in 2008, my only big expense at nationals was professional make-up -- and that was a personal choice. In looking at photos I personally think nude is better.
