Date Posted: 09:49:04 07/23/10 Fri The American contestants in this pageant are required to raise $100 minimum for CMN and were told by the director that they cannot win the pageant if they do not meet this goal. Do all Miss Maine prelims have this rule? There are 5 Americans and 5 Canadians competing for the title, and the Canadians are not required to raise funds for any organization. This hardly seems fair. I'm all for supporting charities, but to have different rules for different contestants doesn't seem right. [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |
| [> Subject: Regarding the Children's Miracle Network requirement, it is a Miss America Organization requirement that each contestant raise $100 for each local pageant they compete in and an additional $250 to compete at the state pageant. If a contestant competes "at large', she has to raise $350 to compete in the state pageant. | |

Date Posted: 06:35:39 07/26/10 Mon Contestants had to come to rehearsals all week except for one who lived three hours away because it was too far, according to directors. Those who lived nearly two hours away were not exempt from this rule and had to attend all rehearsals. Applications were filled out the night before so there was no time given to perfect them. The directors also allowed two contestants to sing the same song in the pageant for the talent competition. [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |
| [> [> [> [> Subject: All Maine contestants knew this was a prelim and they needed to raise money. As far as girls traveling it was their choice, if it was to far to travel for practice you were not expected. Talent is on an individual basis the directors have no control over a persons talent and if 2 sing the same song. No applications were filled out the night before. I was a contestant. We all did paperwork weeks before the pageant. | |

| [> [> [> [> [> [> Subject: Yes Miss Group. It was in the paperwork about raising money, as far as talent director does not choose the contestants choose. Rehearsals are important, if you live over 2 hours then you were not expected. It was then your responsibility to learn the opening number or not do the opening number. As far as application they everyone obviouly knows what to write, they are all old enough to know how to answer hard questions. Nothing new. I did not win, but will definatly do it again. It was a great pageant. | |
