Just wondering if anyone has any ideas as to who plans to compete in the Mrs pageants here in Maine for 2009. Both the International and America Pageant had some new faces in 08, I'm curious to see how many of them compete again and who may be first time contestants.

I am wondering if there is a site where I can find out about upcoming pageants in Maine. Both of my daughters are under 10 and want to do a pageant, but I can't seem to find any information. If anyone knows of any pageants please post. Thanks Donna

Eagle U and Mental Management® System have partnered together to bring you an all new program: Mental Toughness for Pageantry! This program has been specifically designed to train pageant competitors ages 14 to 25 for the mental game associated with pageant competition. Regardless of the pageant affiliation, pageant competitors will learn a mental preparation and training system that will give them a significant edge over their competition.

The Mental Management® System was developed by Lanny Bassham following his first Olympic games. Lanny is a two time world champion, a 1976 Olympic gold medalist, author of With Winning in Mind, and the former mental preparation coach to nine countries' Olympic teams. Lanny has been training Olympians, pro athletes, pageant competitors and individuals wanting to improve their performance under pressure for over 30 years and is currently the mental preparation coach for 15 PGA Tour Players. Now the same proven system is available to you through the Mental Toughness for Pageantry program.

Mental Toughness for Pageantry will teach you the tools to:

  • Maximize your ability to maintain a positive self-image throughout competition
  • Analyze your performance and have a system for improvement
  • Blast your competition with unparalleled self-confidence and stage presence
  • Practice and apply the Mental Management System in a mock pageant competition
  • Handle backstage drama during competition
  • Turn deficiencies into strengths
  • Performing under pressure at the national level

At Mental Toughness for Pageantry, you will have the opportunity to learn from Lanny Bassham himself, as well as Heather Sumlin, Director of Performance Programs at Mental Management® Systems. Heather Sumlin is a certified instructor of Mental Management® to pageant competitors and stage performers, including the former Miss Texas, Shilah Phillips, 1st Runner Up to Miss America 2007. You will also have the opportunity to learn from Jennifer McCoy, Co-Owner of Lenz Boutique, a premier, full-service pageant and designer evening gown boutique. Jennifer McCoy is also the creator of Crown Consulting.

The program will be held in Dallas, TX December 27-31, 2008 at the Grand Hyatt DFW Hotel. The all-inclusive tuition for the Mental Toughness for Pageantry program is $2,495 per student (all 2008-2009 Eagle U Scholarships may be applied to tuition). You are encouraged to secure your seat as soon as possible. If you are serious about winning a state or national title, you don’t want to pass on this opportunity. Seating is limited to ensure personal attention.

Tuition includes:

  • Transportation between the designated airport and the seminar
  • All meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner) and snacks
  • Lodging
  • Workbook
  • Copy of With Winning in Mind
  • Copy of Freedom Flight
  • Audio CD - What Every Pageant Contestant Needs to Know FIRST About the Mental Game
  • Performance Analysis Journal

Subject: As part of the International Homecoming Festival in Calais, ME & St. Stephen, NB

Author:
LaPetite, Pre-teen, & Teen International Pageant was held Saturday.
[ Edit | View ]

Date Posted: 12:39:12 07/28/08 Mon

The 21st Annual LaPetite, Pre-teen, and Teen International Pageant was held on Saturday in Calais. Girls from age 4-16 from both Maine and New Brunswick competed. From beginning to end, it was a wonderful experience for the girls, and the show was great! This year, all funds raised from the pageant were donated to Hospice.

Pageant Director Barbara Lara, who has been teaching dance for more than 40 years, choreographed two opening production numbers: one for the LaPetite contestants, who were adorable, and the second for the Pre-teens and Teens, who were looking cool! All of the girls did a great job, and those of us in the audience could tell they were having fun!

Contestants were judged on interview earlier in the day. The evening competition included casual wear modeling, formal wear, and for the pre-teens and teens, an on-stage question.

For the first time at this pageant, contestants had the option of competing in talent.

While waiting for the scores to be tallied, Barbara Lara and husband Jose wowed the audience with their dance skills. Barbara's granddaughter Micalah performed a cute hip-hop routine. (It should be noted that while Micalah has competed in pageants in the past, her grandmother does not feel it is appropriate for her to compete at a pageant directed by a relative.) Micalah served as an official representative for Hospice and wore a tiara which had been won by her mother, who passed away last year.

We were also entertained by the amazing singing of last year's Miss Teen International Breanna Beal and the fast tapping feet of Ms Eastern Maine Talent Queen, Eryn Crowe. Both these young ladies should compete at Miss Maine America next summer.

If I'm forgetting anyone, I apologize. It was a great night of pageantry and entertainment. ALL of the girls who competed should be congratulate for doing a fabulous job!

Because talent was optional, it was scored by a different panel of judges than the pageant itself.

The winners were:

LaPetite Pageant & Talent Queens (same winners for both!)

2nd RU Myka Clark
1st RU Haley Smith
Miss LaPetite International
Micalah Farrington

Pre-teen Talent

2nd RU Sarah Mullen
1st RU Hannah Sivret
Pre-teen Talent Queen
Marina Farrington

Pre-teen Pageant

2nd RU Sarah Mullen
1st RU Hannah Sivret
Miss Pre-teen International
Aveena Viscardo (SP?)

Teen Talent

1st RU Ashley Lord
Teen Talent Queen
Kristen Paul

Teen Pageant

2nd RU Jessica Murray
1st RU Sarah Bailey
Miss Teen International
Ashley Melhieser

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL THE QUEENS, RUNNERS-UP, AND EVERYONE WHO PARTICIPATED! It was a great pageant for a wonderful cause. Enjoy the rest of the International Homecoming Festival!

Wanted to send out a quick note to say that our New England Team was fantastic at the Mrs., Miss, and Teen International Pageants in Chicago! We had a blast! Each Queen did an incredible job not only representing her State, but more importantly, her personally chosen platform! I am SO proud of ALL of my girls! I want to send an extra special Congratulations along to our 2008 Mrs. Massachusetts International, Jessica Plante, and our Miss Massachusetts International 2008, Michelle Spaleta, they both placed as Top 10 finalists! What a proud moment for us all...it felt like we had a team there, and it was truly an honor to have members of our team make it to the Top 10! Way to go New England! You can view photos by going to www.mrsinternational.com (here you can navigate to the Miss & Teen sites as well) I wil try to send you photos via e:mail as I am so clueless as to how to post them. :) Thanks so much for letting me post about how proud I am of my girls! I would just like to say how wonderful it was to have our Mrs. Maine America, Jamie Cannon at the Potato Blossom Festival. I attend the parade and pageant each year, and was excited and surprised to see her in the parade, then as a judge at the Maine Potato Queen Scholarship Pageant. It is wonderful that a State Queen made the trip up to the County, and I just want to say Thank you to Jamie for including the Potato Blossom Festival as one of the many events you will be involved with as Mrs. Maine America.

I just want to reiterate that if you are going to nationals, Sheila is outstanding to do your hair and makeup while there. She is responsible for most of the top 10 placements with respect to hair and makeup in a national setting.

Our Kristin Walton is using her at nationals :-)
