Want to gain self-confidence, enhance your public speaking ability, have fun, and make new friends?

Join the Eastern Maine Pageant!

The pageant is being held on Saturday, April 18th in Baileyville.

Every contestant gets private stage time to practice her stage walk and introduction. You'll be given suggestions of where to walk and where to stand BEFORE the pageant starts. You'll see for yourself why the Eastern Maine Pageant has earned such a positive reputation for helping young ladies in all areas of pageantry.

All queens are given the opportunity to ride in parades, take part in numerous events and festivals, all while being role models for other females. As well, older queens are often asked to attend other pageants as judges.

Compared to other larger-type pageants, the Eastern Maine Pageant has low entry fees. It also offers optional competitions consisting of modeling, photogenic, and talent. The trophies, crowns, and custom-embroidered satin sashes are beautiful, and the experience you'll gain will last a lifetime!

If you're interested in entering, email us now.

The deadline is quickly approaching and we hope to see you!

Email easternmaine@hotmail.com or visit http://easternmaine.bravehost.com/ for more information!

Attention Aspiring Actors/Actresses! Saturday- Feb. 28th 12-5pm, in Manchester, Maine, we are casting several characters for "Beauty is Only Skin Deep"- a movie based on a short story by Chritopher Osgood...writer of the "Moosebumps" stories. You may have heard him on local Maine radio reading his work! Actress Eileen Daly, as well as Comedian Bob Marley are both involved with this project. We are in need of several 7 yr. old pageant girls, as well as numerous Teen/Miss age girls, and 10-12 ladies in their 30's for Pageant scenes. There are also several other characters that are being cast, as well as tons of extras....a great deal of HS age students. Please e:mail me at mrsmaineintl@hotmail. for a list of the characters, and F.M.I. about the Casting Call. Many speaking and non-speaking parts, and a great addition to any resume!

Gorham owns Miss Maine Teen title

By Robert Lowell
Reporter - American Journal
GORHAM (Dec 3): Gorham can claim its second consecutive Miss Maine Teen USA.

Jordan Shiers, 16, will represent Maine in the national Miss Teen USA pageant next summer. She won the title Nov. 22, and succeeds Avery Barr, also of Gorham.

Shiers, a Gorham High School junior, is readying for appearances beginning Friday with a parade in Freeport. She will also be on hand for Gorham’s New Year's celebration.

“Right now I’m just focusing on appearances and having fun,” Shiers said Monday, adding there would be time to train for the national pageant.

Shiers is the daughter of Darren and Lisa Shiers.

“I’m her secretary,” her mom said with a smile Monday, as she reeled off upcoming events.

Shiers won the Miss Maine Teen USA title at a pageant at the Eastland Park Hotel in Portland, besting 30 other competitors.

“Oh, I was ecstatic,” her mom said. “We were both balling.”

In the excitement, Jordan first thought another had won. But, Jordan immediately received the crown, sash and flowers. “Oh my goodness, everything happened so fast,” Shiers said.

“My face was red and my makeup smeared,” Shiers said.

Jordan’s grandmother, Connie Shiers of Gorham, said pageant competition included evening gown, swimsuit and interview. “She looked beautiful,” she said.

Barr, last year's winner, said Shiers, "said it was one of the best years of her life,” Jordan Shiers said.

The two Gorham winners share many similarities. Each was 16 and a junior at Gorham High School when they won; both work at Mr. Bagel in Gorham; both have a brother and two sisters; and both were coached by Gorham’s Randi Preis, Mrs. Maine 2000, then of Westbrook.

Preis said many contestants and coaches think a girl needs to have the right look and spend time on choices of gowns and swimsuits, hair and makeup. But, Preis said, while those are necessary, she believes the edge is in the interview, 33 percent of their score.

“So I worked mostly on interview with Jordan. I'd estimate that we spent about 60 hours on interview alone with her since August,” Preis said.

An honor roll student, Shiers is a cheerleader and a member of Elite All Stars Cheerleaders in Westbrook. Preis described Shiers as intelligent, motivated, charming, and disciplined.

Shiers is planning on college and becoming a child therapist. “With all of her upcoming opportunities, she'll grow into a poised, confident young woman that will undoubtedly excel at anything she chooses to do in life,” Preis said.

“She's a gem. It was a pleasure to help her get to this point in her life - this coming year will be life changing for her,” Preis said.

Hello, This is Lisa Bird again. I am trying to find a way to contact the moderator on this web site. I know that in the above posts that mention my name you (the moderator) stated that you had done some type of search that allowed you to see that the negative comment had come from my address. I was wondering if you could do that again with this post to check to see if it is the same address as the negative post was. I think that might work in clearing this up. Do you have any way of contacting the person you did a search on? Thanks so much for any help you can provide with this. I feel just terrible about this and would really like to find a way to fix it.

In reply to: J. R. 's message, "MISS MAINE TEEN USA 2009" on 13:16:32 11/28/08 Fri

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hello, My name is Lisa Bird. I am not sure if I am doing this right or not but I am in hopes of getting some type of message out to anyone and everyone who reads this page. It appears that there are some people on here who may have me confused with someone else and I am extremely concerned over what I have just read on this board. This is my first time writing anything on here. For some reason my name has been associated with a negative comment that may or may not have been posted on this web site. I would like to make it very clear to everyone that I have never been to this web site until today when I was told that my name had been mentioned on here, that I have never and would never insult any of my friends on here nor would I ever make a negative comment about a child on a web site or anywhere else. I am certainly hoping that perhaps the comment came from someone else with the same name and I am saddened that anyone would talk negativeley about the current Miss Teen. She is a beautiful, lovely, girl from a kind family. I have been one of their number one supporters since day one and have worked with them on several projects that have nothing to do with pageantry. I would ask that my name no longer be used on this web site as you clearly have me mistaken for someone else. I am a professional, Christian woman with two young children. I am so deeply hurt that anyone would associate my name with anything harmful or hurtful to another person. I am thankful and greatful however that Jordan, her family, and my friends know that I would never do what I have been accused of. Thank you so much for giving your attention to this matter. If the moderator would please let me know how to get in touch with them as well it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.

Hello to you all...It's been awhile since I have ventured another board as I try to stay out of any type of drama and just keeping to myself these days...

I heard that there was a post on here saying I wasn't going to be shooting this years pageant do to a death in the family or something like that......

I would just like to clear up a few things...
Unfortunately there was a recent death and it was one of my very good friends...His name was Ed Szalajeski and he was also a professional photographer....It's been a very emotional week for me as he was 38 years old leaving behind a beautiful wife and 6 year old son...He went into the hospital for a hear operation and a day later was gone due to complications...It hits home to me due to health problems I have gone through with a bout with colon cancer...I am proud to say that I am almost 5 years in remission!!

I would just like to say to everyone that comes to this board or any other board...Life is what you make it...Life is short...Why not enjoy the time you are here rather than spend time trashing somebody you might not even know....

I am not pointing any fingers at anyone, I am not putting this board down and I am typing this with a very soft spoken tone....I hope nothing I am saying is going to be taken out of text....

I guess you guys are catching me in an emotional time I am having and can't express enough to you that I think it would be great to see you all praise people for something they do or did rather than dwell on something somebody has done that is not good...

I will be the first to admit..I am not perfect...On that note..None of us are...

I ask that next time you sit down and feel yourself about to trash somebody...Please think about how this is somebody's child, mother or human being...

It doesn't do any good pointing a finger at anyone.... It only adds fuel the fire...If I have ever done this to any of you..I apologize....We all change and are in different places than each other...

If you see a girl at the pageant this weekend that you don't think did a great job...Instead of saying that...Applaud the fact she did her best or had the courage to do the pageant..It's true what somebody wrote in another post...Some of these girls are doing this for confidence or just trying to know what it feels like to be a beauty queen for a few days and best yet...Make new friends...

Thank you for those who read this post...My heart goes out to these girls for trying...Some have been doing it for years...Some have not...In the end..Hopefully...They had fun...I always do!!

Make sure to come up and say hi to me...If you don't know me..Introduce yourself as my goal in life is to make a new friend a day.

Have fun everybody!!
This is going to be the Best pageant Maine has seen in a long time!!

Mackenzie has stepped up her game, has the right people in place and the Eastland is gonna be the place to be this weekend!!

To Avery and Kaetlin!!...You guys rock and did a great job as well as made Maine proud of you!!
