Elden's hand stilled against the dog as Des all but stormed out. He couldn't blame her, she was mad and hurt and he hadn't done much to lessen that. He just wanted her safe, but it seemed he couldn't line things up right so she could understand why. He didn't see her as a kid, hadn't for six years now, and that had become a problem. It hadn't been fare or right what he'd done... almost done, to her five years ago. And he'd never forgiven himself for that mistake, even if it hadn't bothered her. He watched the car speed out of sight around the corner, and did his best to put it out of his mind for now. He knew how she drove, and he doubted she'd chance wrecking a car like that. He just hoped she'd be back before it started pouring. He turned his attention back to Sphinx and his fingers began to stroke along the dogs ear again, clearly a soothing gesture for one or both of them. He listened as his father spoke, and finally nodded his head "She'll tan my hide for keeping it from her, but she'll understand why" He gave a slight smirk at the thought of his tini mother swatting at him with mock irritation. He doubted she'd be so kind to Sphinx. He was more likely to get a sharp right jab to the jaw. He finally turned away from the man, turning his gaze out to the water and the storm rolling across it. "You might as well fill me in on the last decade... i doubt she'll bring your car back soon" He'd give his own historty only once he'd heard his fathers. Hell most of his was as simple as 'i grew up'. Only in the last few years had anything much happened.. and god knew there was enough in those four years to fill a lifetime. He rolled his shoulder again, refusing to rub it. He was glad spring was turning to summer, he doubted he'd enjoy spending a winter this high up. The cold would reach havoc on his battle wounds. His shoulder already hurt just with this rain coming, the snow would likely cripple his leg with stiffness... But he'd have to worry about that when it came, for now he had too much other shit on his plate. |
