Perhaps she had been too harsh. The human side of her, deep in her heart, felt a twinge of guilt. Oops.

Tarot blanched. Sleep here... with the hobo? And the... dirt? Never in a million years. She hadn't slept in anything but luxury, planes or familiar houses in eons. The last time she'd slept in a place this dingy was... when she'd died. Tarot brushed her crimson hair out of her eyes, her hand trembling as she did so.

God, she hoped he wasn't going to use her information against her. It would be terrible to be blackmailed or, worse, harmed. Not that it would last long, since her brother was probably still on her tail. But it would still suck.

I'd prefer a bed to a dirtied bench. She huffed, chewing on her bottom lip. I've still got my checkbook.

Thank goodness she'd thought that far ahead.
