She was glad he'd broken their eye contact because she had blushed hotly at the unexpected compliment. Natasha knew she was no slouch but she was still taken by surprise. For a moment she considered answering him with another attempt at a joke, or a sarcastic remark, but she had been caught way off guard and her mind had gone blank. It was strange the way he was able to do that, unnerve her so easily. He was... a distracting physical presence, to say the least. She found herself watching his mouth, his lips, imagining them on her own, how they would move and feel... Yowza, he was talking again. She took a long sip of ice water and her eyebrows quirked, giving her a bemused look. "I just wanted a change," she said simply, tracing a circle on the table with her finger. "And what about you? Have you always lived here?"
