His eyes had filtered to the kitchen door as he watched the heavy door sway gracefully on its old hinges. It did not give a creak of denial or any other form of resistance. It simply swayed day after day. The circle in it was steamed up or fogged over (Lezedi couldn’t tell which) and he could just barely see the patches of color move as the cooks hurried with their order. He knew she watched him and wondered about his lips just like you can tell if it’ll rain or not. His eyes only returned to her beautiful face when she asked him about his family. His gut clenched into an iron fist but his expression never changed. She didn’t need to know that much detail about his past. They could brush against each other in the darkness just fine without all the nasty details. “Oh, I reckon my family has always been here. I grew up here for the most part. My mother traveled a lot.” No mention of his twin was given or the fact that his father was one of the city’s toughest jackass. His mother sounded pleasant enough and the fact of her…disease...needn’t be mentioned. His smile was perfected. “Cascade City is good for a change.” The focus was pushed back in her direction. Their conversation had taken on the duel weight of a teeter-totter and had smacked her ass back into the dirt again with a pleasant thud. He took just a second to enjoy the added height and the view of the playground. Afterall, her body was a playground that couldn’t be resisted.

(I was worried it'd be too sexy.)
