Actually, it's highly evident that some borrowing went on from so called "mythology" (which originally didn't mean something made up) from sources like the Epic of Gilgamesh and Mithraism.

Christianity as practiced today is not even the same as it was practiced in the 19th century. It changes with the times, and it rolls with the punches.
