I am looking at this very model, so keeping one eye here. Useful info about the USB's. I'm quite curious about the processor heat issue, I've read that overheating can cause permanent performance degradation, as in 2.4GHz could theoretically become, say, 1.8GHz down the road--perhaps a short spell beyond the warranty. Was it an HP I'd read about "excessive noise" complaints due to it's dual-fan setup? I'll let you know if I find out, but I might just take comfort in that noise, as one owner did. On the flip side of the desktop/mobile processor issue, CNET had underwhelming benchmarks on one of the higher-end P4M Vaio's, theorizing the speed-control mechanism (software, I believe they said) was clunky and stepping down the clock speed excessively in the interest of battery life.
BestBuy.com has the ZE5185 for $1899, $1649 after the 2 mail-in rebates totalling $250, until Jan. 11. Other than the USB issue, other systems I've come across in this pricing tier seem to have major red lights, like *NO* USB ports, or shared video memory, or (in Sony's case) a 512MB ceiling on RAM expansion. I'll keep looking, however--perhaps until the 11th.

Cheers
