Subject: North of England - confused about scoring

Thought the Cordon feis was really good but confused by the scoring throughout the day. How can someone get 1st in their championship but 7th or 8th in one of their solo results? Saw this happen multiple times with results. I would understand a movement of maybe 2 or 3 places but it seems like a big jump and scores wouldn’t add up? Can someone explain?
