Subject: They are both solos and a separate competition (more)
In reply to: Mags 's message, "How do traditional sets work in WIDA for local feiseanna?" on 10:23:00 12/13/25 Sat

All 9 trads are split between the grades and offered as solos. Beginner - Patrick's Day. Primary - Jockey to the Fair, Blackbird. Intermediate- King, Garden, Job of Journeywork. Open- The Hunt, Three Sea Captains, White Blanket. In the solos the set is right foot only for all ages. For the trad set competition at local feiseanna, the dancer chooses one set. All ages do right and left of the set. It is only at majors that the dancer will do an assigned trad set to their age group in the open championship and also only at majors that the full trad set championship is offered. This championship is 3 rounds, 3 judges with the dances chosen at random the day before or morning of. There is a recall depending on numbers I think.
