Subject: What is the worst experience anyone has had at a pagent that promoted the "sisterhood" but allowed ugly behavior to take place? I was asking because one time an assistant pagent director gave me the wrong time schedule then acted like it was an accident, so I would purposely be late and have less time to get ready. Then they acted like it was "just an accident".I found out after the pagent they had a "favorite girl", her niece by marriage. Total BS. Subject Author Date Something similar happened to me, as I wasn't told that Interview has been moved up. When I arrived at the time I was told, several of the judges had left. The remaining ones interviewed me, telling me that they could adjust their percentages so that I wouldn't be penalized. The only reason I continued is that my best friend was on his way from threeor four hours away to see me compete. It was my first AND LAST pageant. I still made Top 5. At that time each contestants was supposed to get 8 minutes. I noticed some contestants were getting interrupted at 7 minutes then I noticed another contestant interview was 14 minutes long. But two of us were MAO local directors at the time. The director of this pageant told us in advance that they did not want a certain contestant to win, and of course she named her, because of certain "behaviors" she exhibited. in school. The other judge and I talked privately and said that we would ignore her information and judge all the girls fairly. The situation worked out OK because the one in question was strong in interview but did not measure up in the onstage competitions. I think she finished second or third runner-up. I would have walked away from that pageant in a heartbeat. What did this director share about other public school students? I wouldn't have said the situation worked out okay. The bias was against this girl. You may have felt principled, but what about the other judges? What if the girl's parents take legal action because of the director's comments? Are you insulated? We were shocked by the second r-up but apparently she was the pre-picked winner, we just didn't know. To us, she was blah. They didn't do a very good job of rigging the pageant that year, as we also left, out of the Top 5, a girl whose parents PAID FOR the crown.
