I don't know of a Miss America whose win went to her head, as the judges make awfully good picks after interviewing them for 10 minutes or so. However, some formers have been faced with some major life challenges. For example, I think that Gretchen Carlson was a perfectly lovely young woman when she won but she had to face a toxic work environment that IMHO (as a spectator) might have hardened her. (NT)No name

Gretchen was toxic from the moment she won her state crown. After winning Miss America, she was difficult to deal with and wanted to get rid of the physical fitness aspect of competition as she hated having to compete in it herself. She elvated herself to a god like status in her mind the moment that crown hit her head, which we all know that year the judges admitted the wrong person won! (NT)No name

I saw a "hidden camera" video of Gretchen when she was Miss A and she was absolutely gracious to some guy who seemed to REALLY needed some grace at that moment (I guess it was an actor and teh whole thing was a setup, but still) so I feel that I "saw" her in an unguarded moment. Otherwise, I can't stand her haha But I always go back to that unguarded moment and I appreciate The person that I saw. I am humbled by the person I saw in that unguarded moment. Carry on.
