It is unlike any comparable pageant and obviously causes some confusion amongst viewers. To be perfectly clear, each phase of competition is weighted equally. This means no excellent talent or high fitness score will necessarily guarantee a girl a spot in the top ten or top five. It equally means no poor talent score will keep a girl out of the top ten or top five. Interview matters and styling onstage matters. Does this mean there weren't some girls notably left out of these placements? Not at all. Several strong, consistent competitors onstage were left out. However, no one on this board saw an interview of any of the contestants. Scoring high in interview and then consistently scoring high in at least two if not three of the onstage competitions will result in high placement. Until the fan base starts to grasp what this scoring really looks like in practice, you will continue to feel miffed and confused at the close of each pageant. Miss Volunteer America is far from perfect. But she is a three year old pageant. The organization is on solid footing to continue on its path of growth. If you aren't willing to buckle up for the ride that involves both highs and lows, find a new system to follow. [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |

[> [> [> Subject: At the end of the day the scores don’t matter once you’re in the 5. It’s final ballot. They pick who they want. The person with the lowest scores could win. And unfortunately that happens often simply because they like her for some reason. Onstage question is a huge reflection of interview. I think with this 5 it showed who actually more than likely had a strong one and who didn’t. | |
