Subject: Evolution vs Engineering (or how Science had its revenge)

God killed science. In the Dark Ages, the Inqusition rode throughout Europe, murdering any magic-wielders (aka: scientists) they managed to stumble across (and quite a few people who just got caught in the wrong place, at the wrong time). Progress was halted. Women could no longer practice medicine without facing the stake (or numerous other ways of dying), so men were forced to assume the role of society's healers -- a job the majority of them had no clue about. Leeches cured disease, electric shocks invigorated the body, and 15 gallons of yogurt shot up your arse daily was the key to staying healthy.

Now, after 400+ years, science has discovered and explained a great many things once believed to be miracles of God. Science has broken thru the mystical code of life (DNA) and has even begun to 'program' life on its own, thus stealing away another miracle -- the miracle of life (and to some extent, creation). Science has had its revenge. Read the "Historical Illuminatus pt.2: the Widow's Son" by Robert Anton Wilson sometime for an interesting view on gods and demons.
