In reply to: Tr'ln*Latroth(Agust) and True*Zairith(Spirit) 's message, "Life is bigger... <^> =Love=of=All=Things=Winged" on 18:59:37 09/02/05 Fri

Watching Tr'ln talk to his dragon, Talla smiles, the kind of smile that would be a giggle if she let it out. It's nice to know that her dragon isn't the only one who gets a bit jealous of the hatchlings, at least. Her eyes dart towards True when the brownrider asks about the girl's family, but no, True is another of the many people who are here on their own. When Tr'ln directs the question at her, instead, Talla is a bit hesitant for a moment. Some people tend to be a little jealous - not intentionally jealous, more sad and wistful, but it still makes her feel a little guilty deep in her gut - when the goldrider mentions just how many people she's managed to keep around her. "I was lucky," she finally says forthrightly, deciding to just gun forward and smile about it. "I mentioned my brothers when we were talking about my firelizards' names, remember? I have two brothers here, an older one and a younger one. I also have three cousins, and two friends from my old Hold that I've always considered family, though I haven't seen T'mber, C'shar, or A'dro for a long time now." She frowns briefly. "I know they left the Weyr, but they were only going exploring in the hopes of finding people we lost in the last storm. I don't know what happened to them, but I don't think they're dead, because Mylanith is sure she would have been able to feel that." The smile returns to Talla's face as she forcibly dismisses her concern. Now isn't the time to dwell on that. "My brothers were the bluerider and the greenrider who were helping the Healer and the Weyrwoman with those two girls hurt on the Sands." There's undeniable pride in the young woman's voice at her brothers' actions, though she feels a bit guilty at not having helped herself. But there had already been a big enough crowd that she'd feared getting in the way, and unlike the Weyrwoman, Talla knows nothing about Healing, while she doesn't have the strength of either of her brothers. D'rai and Z'ni both nearly qualify for "hulking", while Talla herself takes after her father's side of the family, which is substantially lighter-framed.

Reflecting on her brothers for a moment, Talla reaches out and runs a finger down Chapter's neck. The brown is asleep, while green Verse is almost there. Stanza, older and less prone to either exhausting or stuffing herself, is still sitting up with one paw on Talla's ear, keeping a sharp and interested eye on the other two dragonriders. Then Talla shakes herself, blinks, and smiles apologetically at Tr'ln and True. "And you have that son, don't you, Tr'ln?" the goldrider says, passing the conversational baton without stopping to remember that the brownrider had been strangely reticent about the subject the last time that she asked. The moment she closes her mouth, Talla realizes the awkwardness of the question and blushes a little. She scrabbles for a way to fix her verbal fumble, but it's already said. It's really for True's benefit anyway, she tells herself, and using that as an excuse, goes ahead and takes the next step onto thin ice. "You didn't say much about him the last time that we talked." The smile on her face is an attempt to keep this light-hearted. She's really not sure what might lie beneath his silence last time - anything from hatred to a simple lack of knowledge about the boy - but if she was the superstitious type, her fingers would be crossed. She tells herself that it was probably ignorance on his part, since it seemed he hadn't actually known the child that well. Not too great of a surprise, really, when the fostering system is so widespread on Pern.
