S’peer was walking.

It was normal to see him on one of his long treks around the Weyr – outside and inside, even if it was pouring with rain. Drudges no longer gave him odd looks if he came into the Lower Caverns soaking wet, but this time he wasn’t covered in rainwater. All the better – he didn’t exactly enjoy it. But there were times when he had to walk – it was the only way to give him something to concentrate on other than how much he wanted a drink. So he would go on long walks, and come inside for a drink of something afterwards…even if that something was non-alcoholic.

This time he had grabbed a cup of hot klah, and was just looking for a seat when…Oh no. Not again. Halzay. Looks like I’ll need more than just a walk after I’m done talking to her…maybe a run or something. In the rain. Scarth of G’rein would have pulled Speer away from the greenrider, knowing the detrimental effect she had on him, but S’peer was determined. He would talk to her if it was the last thing he did.

It might well be. Just remember last time, S’peer.

Scarth. He should have guessed the blue would be eavesdropping.

‘I’ll be fine. I promise.’ Scarth made a sceptical sound in the back of his rider’s mind, but respectfully withdrew, determined not to become involved in the discussion this time – it was between riders, not dragons, and S’peer wanted a degree of privacy. The bluerider approached her table nervously, biting his lip.

“Uh…can I sit here?” He asked, feeling like a scolded weyrbrat in her presence, like he normally did. “We need to talk.”
