Leave it to Halzay to be so forgiving she seems foolish.

Halzay, surprisingly, had never heard about S’peer’s fight with M’red. In fact, whenever S’peer had been mentioned, she’d just sort of tune out and feed Sally. Now, however, she wanted to know more about him, seeing as he wanted to be a part of Sally’s life, and it was frustrating that she knew so little!

She frowned softly, willing herself not to incriminate Elaini in any way possible. Or, at least, not until W’ntyr had heard first from ‘Laini herself. “That’s… that had to be rough for W’ntyr,” she said softly, trying to figure out how to put it without sounding too empathetic or too apathetic. She nodded at his words. “I guess that’s all we can do. I know ‘Laini will try anything to make sure it works out… I just hope she doesn’t try too hard.” Halzay shook her head. “’Laini and I knew each other before I lived in the Weyr, and she does that a lot. Get herself too involved, and have everything collapse around her. It’s amazing she’s still so sharding happy.” She shook her head. No matter how many times Elaini messed up—and she could mess up pretty badly, as she was doing now—she always seemed to be happy in the end. Though Halzay could understand love pretty well, and forgiveness came naturally… she’d never understand her fellow greenrider.

{I understand what you mean,} Lizzie crooned softly, and her eyes whirled with a slightly sad colour. {They do not mean it, but Halzay makes yours nervous, and yours makes mine feel useless. I’m sure neither does it on purpose, but it happens.} Lizzie thought for a moment. {I believe that hatchling of theirs is the one thing stopping mine from giving up completely. She loves the baby, so she stays happy for her, too. Maybe if yours gets to know her, he’ll feel the same way. Or not… I really wouldn’t know.}
