How universal are over the lap spankings? Most I witnessed were mom standing and swatting. I assume over the knee is used for less spontaneous spankings, those by mom or dad after getting home to give a promised correction. Second observation: The position is almost universally used in film for when the hero spanks the heroine. It is it’s humiliating and also almost romantic, as it would seem brutal if done with her standing or bent over. Is anyone ever really coerced that easily. A few are downright brutal. So no not even close the way I got it. I've had the odd slap over clothes as a warning a bit like the descendants but I don't see that as a spanking. LOL I giggled when she asked something like "Did you spank me?" No not even close. For a smaller child spanked in a deliberate ritual, by hand or with an implement roughly the size of a hand, I believe over-the-knee has always been most common. Because of that, OTK is established early and will continue at older ages for as long as it's not too uncomfortable or unwieldy. Anyone at any age or size may be drawn to spanking that matches this widely recognized traditional parent-child interaction. OTK is commonly referred to as intimate, and the hierarchy it demonstrates is archetypal domestic dominance and submission. In romance, the strong father figure reining in the bratty female is still popular with spankos, and OTK best fits this scene. That's pretty much how I got most of mine until I was eight. After eight, I wasn't spanked over the knee anymore. As far as movie or tv spankings are concerned, The one that best portrays the over the knee spankings I experienced was the scene in Joe The King, when the title character as a young boy, was spanked bare bottom over his teacher's knee in front of the class. Just like the teacher, my mother did not hesitate to bare and spank my bottom whenever and where ever she felt it was needed. The last time I saw her get spanked she was sixteen. Mom made her pull her pants down and go over her lap, then blistered her bare bottom with a hairbrush for coming in after curfew. On top of that she got grounded. I know it had to be really embarrassing standing fully exposed in front of mom while she was getting chewed out before being turned over and spanked. I still got plenty of spankings and they were always on the bare butt, but she never turned me over her knee after that. When I first started spanking I went to series of lectures by our pastor's wife on parenting, which included a section on discipline and corporal punishment. On spanking she said their rear should be very red, but this depends on complexion of the child. What is universal is the child is spanked to the point there is no faking, but surrender. This can be noticed by the change in the crying to sobbing and ceasing resistance like kicking. But I do see Rebecca's point. I have seen suggestions of clamping their legs down with right leg, and then can feel the change in resistance, but still have a steady target to spank. Mom always spanked us over her lap where she could keep control. I hear about boys/girls who have to bend over and stay in position for spankings, but mom spanked HARD and I always kicked and wiggled desperately. If I was just bending over there's no way I could have stopped myself from jumping up, rubbing etc. Even those who get spanked on the bed I don't see how they keep from rolling over trying to get up etc. I sure would!
