Any society who has so many people who have no pride at all in their past tradition and culture couldn't be considered a society that is spoiling it self with pride. There is no pride seen in the cities. People beg and grovel like they never did before. The buildings try their best to look like those in Cairns but cheap copies of course. I can't see any pride at all in those symbols and actions.

However I agree with you that PNG's pride about modern accomplishments was mostly based on expat work, not our work. Now that the expats are mostly gone and all the western systems are slowly collapsing and going back to original states we see that we were getting patted on the back for the accomplishments of foreigners not ourselves.

Goes back to a discussion earlier about the uncertain
ability of us copycats to adopt western ways totally.
Even though we keep thinking we can and will.
With 99% of our population left out of the picture permanently from adopting western business skills
etc that disaster with making our rural people into
modern white people clouds the accomplishments
of the 1% os uf who managed to become productive
and absolute coconuts.
