Subject: 2021 Southern Iowa Fair

My first fairgrounds visit is in the books, with an inaugural Saturday expedition to a county fair in a small southern Iowa town with a high smoking rate. I knew the fair would be small, but it was even smaller than I expected. I got one really quality sighting that will inevitably make my year-end fairgrounds list and had a few other modest rewards, but it was disappointing even by 2021 standards. Definitely worth reading the writeup as a canary in the coal mine for what my more heavily attended fairs may look like.
