I grew up in a very pro-spanking family/community, and when I was a kid the deciding factor on if your pants came down was how closely related you were to the person who was spanking you.

There were a couple of exceptions to this rule, but the gist was you were spanked bare if you were blood related, and pants up if you weren’t.
