It's truly a delight to get a reply directly from the source. I don't know when or where you originally posted the true original version of that memory but I've seen multiple different versions appear in random places over the years. It truly is a powerful thing to read. I'm happy to have told my own version. Do you think my writing captures how it felt to be one of those kids?

Hearing your account of it this time reveals two more things I didn't know until prior: your brother was very tall for age 11 or your mom very short which must have made things incredibly awkward for him, and I didn't know Carmen protested the punishment but got dismissed on the spot.

Can I ask you some stuff about that day? I know you were 8 but you seem to remember most of it. I'm fascinated by the event, although disturbed as well.
