In many schools female teachers and female principals could spank boys bare, but male teachers and male principals were not allowed to spank girls bare.

This double standard was everywhere. For example in many school districts till the 60s, especially in the Midwest, boys had to take their swim classes in the nude, but not girls and many other examples of how boys were treated differently than girls.
