The living room was the area I was mostly smacked in. Not to cause embarrasment but because the yardstick Dad used needed a big room to wield.

Didnt really feel embarrassed when my brothers watched cause we were all smacked the same way, so guess we were equals.

Once that was embarrassing was being belted when the only think I had on were speedo briefs from the beach (where the offending took place).

Being bent over the back of a chair, my bottom pointed towards the middle of the room where by brothers were and I knew full well they had an A1 view of it being whacked long and hard. The pain level with such little protection was unbearable. To say I cried loud is an understatement. This made teenage me feel very much like a little boy, smacked, smarting, crying and embarrassed.
