Thank you for the clarification, Julia. I think I understand. When you feel guilty about something, a spanking is probably the safest tangible way of paying a price for what you did. I think having your actual parent administer the spanking elevates the punishment to another level, making it more official and validated from a recognized authority figure.

The way you originally described your ordeal, I wasn't sure whether you were okay with the harsh treatment you received, which could change the perspective on it entirely. I don't believe most adults in your situation even have a parent willing to do what your mother did, much less be that aggressive about it. She did not take it easy on you, that is for sure.
