 Growing up, spankings were the goto punishment at home. Momma and Daddy both spanked. Momma did spank the most since she was a stay at home Momma and didn't believe in pushing it off on Daddy. So we didn't play "Wait till your Daddy gets home"

Both of them spanked our bare butts over the knee. Most of our spankings happened in the living room. We would get lectured then have to bare our butts and turn over their lap. It would be in front of whoever happened to be there at the time too. Momma usually spanked by hand but sometimes would use her hairbrush instead. Daddy always spanked by hand. His spankings hurt more than Momma's hairbrush spankings because he has big hands hardened from a lifetime of working with his hands. It's like getting hit with a paddle covered in rough leather. Plus I'm a Daddy's Girl so a spanking from him hurt my feelings almost more than it did my bare butt. He generally only gave ten to twelve smacks. Momma's spankings were usually longer. I never really counted her's because I was too busy crying. I was a big baby when I got spanked, even in my teens. Sometimes she continued scolding as she spanked.



Once the spanking was over, we were allowed to cover our bare butts and we could go to our rooms or whatever which I usually did to cry it out and settle down. Whichever one spanked us would come in and talk with us later, not to fuss or for additional punishment, but more to just discuss why they punished us and to make up with us to let us know all was forgiven and the matter closed. I got my first one at four from Momma and she spanked me for the last time at seventeen. Daddy spanked me for the first time when I was six, which nearly broke my heart and the last spanking I got from him was three days after my eighteenth birthday.

With my own kiddos, I learned from Momma and Daddy's examples. I talk with my kids before to make sure they understand why they are getting spanked, then I go ahead and get it over with, having them bare their bottoms and lay across my lap. The spankings usually happen in the living room or kitchen. But there have been occasions where I used my hairbrush. I've used the hairbrush on my oldest boy maybe four times, my daughter six or so and my youngest boy three or four times. After the spanking, I give them time to themselves and then go to check on them and talk with them. We make up and then the matter is settled.

My husband will also spank them, but it very rarely happens, as he works full time and I'm a full time live at home/work from home Momma.

My oldest daughter has only lived with us since early August and we adopted her in December right around her twenty-fourth birthday. She hasn't been spanked by us because she is an adult other than a birthday spanking or just a playful smack on the butt. More on her another time.

Our grandbaby is our oldest's daughter. She's five and an absolute angel. She's had a couple of spankings from her Momma and one "attention getter" and one real spanking from me since they have lived with us. I felt bad about having to spank her which I guess is part of being a Grandma but my daughter assured me it was ok.
