Subject: Don't know if I can help, but I'll try
In reply to: AM 's message, "Help me with this, please." on 20:54:14 11/06/99 Sat

I've thought about this subject for a long time, and haven't really come to any solid conclusions yet. Like you, I think completely free dissemination of information is a good thing, or at least that the regulation thereof, in any form, is probably bad.

But when I go over to Loompanics every now and then to see what's going on, and there're three new manuals on how to terrorize and blow up your neighbor, I start thinking about how many unstable neighbors I may well have. [Maybe I should think about blowing them up before they blow me up. :)]

When you extrapolate this onto the big map, it kind of makes one wonder a little why we all haven't been killed off yet. The idea of bio- or nuke terrorism is scary, indeed, especially when you combine the possibility with freely available info, a world full of fanatics, nutballs and American haters.

I don't really have any good ideas for you at this point, my friend, except to suggest that you try to stay sensitive to, and ready for ANYTHING that could happen in these "evolving" times. What I mean is keep your radio on, your bug-out bag ready, your gas tank full and have an escape plan. It may not suffice to try to dig in at your homestead.

There are many who think it's only a matter of time before some hater-of-America group sends someone with a suitcase to NYC or LA, or some other "large target". Or, as you mention, it could end up being just be a well-informed postal or Xerox type.

If I lived near a big city (e.g. one with an international airport), I would make serious plans to move, and at least be prepared to bug-at at a moments notice. Which I do and have and am.

You know, I sort of take it as a good omen that nothing major has happened so far. But, of course, just because something hasn't occurred yet doesn't mean that it's less likely to happen in the future. It may make it more likely.

The Quickening is certainly taking place. I think the best thing we can do is prepare for it and adapt to it as much as we can, and enjoy the ride. That sounds a little like something theo might say, so it must be pretty good advice.
