“You want to be journalist?” The newspaper elf asked incredulously. Arion sighed; she was tired of hearing that tone of voice. She handed him her example articles with a nod. He flipped through them, and in disgust, handed them back. With a small glance, she read his name tag and suddenly adopted a stern tone of voice. “Jesiah Lamearoux! I demand that you take my articles more seriously.” Jesiah’s bushy eyebrows raised at her use of his name, but then he shrugged. “I took ‘em seriously, miss. The fact is, they’re not good enough for The Lantern.” She sighed and rolled her eyes impudently. She slapped the articles back on his desk and leaned forward in a businesslike manner. “Mister Lamearoux. Would you please be so kind to show this to the publisher of this newspaper and see what he thinks. Frankly, I don’t give a wooden nickel for what you think.” Jesiah started, taken aback at her boldness. He developed a sudden stammer. “Y-yes m-m-ma’am I w-will, ma’am!”
