Hello all. I got the idea for this poem from the lines from Retinas poem Fairy Tales "And a promise, heartfelt or forced,
Are in truth, not always kept." Course, this isn't nearly so good but hope you like it. (I don't really)

A promise is just a word,
Most people say but don't keep.
They say "I promise you"
But it usually isn't that deep.
It will not go beneith the skin,
Nor will it penetrate the heart,
But the breaking will shoot yours with a poison tipped dart

"I promise to return" The brave hero said
But how did fate get into his head?
How does he know he will not die
And go to Hell, or Heaven in the sky?

I doesn't know, he never will,
Until the dragon swoops in for the kill.
Bones snap, blood spews, the hero will not keep his promise
Because a promise is just a word you say,
A sound from the mouth
To create beautiful illusions
