Bracken's bloodstained paw went over the tracks.He was an excpierience woodland tracker but a one eyed toad could have told what happened. they had tacken the cart, adn....they,the vermin who attacked the inocent,killed helples babes and old ones ,af raid to stand uo to warriors, Had taken his family. His eyes darted around falling on the group of bodies. Most had arrows in them two had daggers driven to the hilts in their skulls.. A voice emenated from behind him, "I tried Bracken there were just too many of them I used all my arrows I even my hunting knife and C'meeron's dagger."Bracke Stared at the ground. The red squirrel emerged from behind a bush."You know, Kelsey wasn't her real name as Kegan isn't mine, I'm Oakjak she's elmdance,"Kegan excplained." we had a little brother too, Firjack, One day he took my sling and went into the woods, i was ordered to follow and pertect him by my mother the Queen. She was always picking favorites, made me and Kelsey furios. I followed firjak and wonder of wonders he gets jumped by vermin." Bracken looked up kegan kept on going as if he were alone."I put Him and the otter princess, who he was trying to impress behind me got my trusty bow and began protecting. Firjak, he got my sling and and began silnging. First try he got a vermin second, he snapped my bowstring. how? i'll never know. I drew my knife and lept on them. they beat me and tied me up. Then one night I saw my chance. The gard was drunk and fell asleep it was the work of the moment for my teeth." Kegan bared them, his fangs glistening in the sunlight" I got the keys and freed firjak adn the princess, who was asleep. Hed said he'd wake her when I was gone , i went for help at the queens court and she banished me for not protecting firjak, i didm't even get a chance to tell the hole storie." He didn't say another thing. . Kegan or oakjak began pulling arrows out of the vermin and wiping them off with his shirt. "watdya we go vermin hunting.' kegan finally said. Bracken just smiled.
