Chapter one:Village
In Mossflower Country,spring had come.
In the cold,dark,Northlands,spring had come.
In a tiny,Northern village,spring had come.
All the beasts in the village crowded at the hut of their chieftain,pushing and shoving to get inside.
"Hey,leggo o' me tail!"
"Gerrof me luvverly nose!"
"I would if'n ye'd stop crushin' my footpaw,bootbrain!"
All arguements ceased when a tall,white wolf came striding out,shouting,"Silence,addlebrains!Your queen slumbers inside,and you,the scrapings of the earth,squabble about seeing my cub!I am disgraced to see you sniveling faces.Begone with you!Go back to your huts,eat your miserablemeals with your wives.Go,now!"
He walked back into the hut to a small reed basket,where a cub lay sleeping.
"A male,Siona,dear?"He pondered aloud to a lovely vixen nearby.
"No,Tailon.A vixen,named Tanaka."She replied silkily."Part wolf,part fox.Black as the night sky."
"The makings,"Smiled the wolf."Of a great warrior,one who will lead these fools."
